Heritage breeds are traditional livestock that can be traced back prior to the beginning of industrial farming. Modern farming techniques center on faster-growing animals in confined facilities and financial interests that put little focus on animal welfare or healthy food. Over time as these mass-produced livestock dominated the food markets, many heritage livestock teetered on the brink of extinction.
Heritage breeds are generally better adapted to withstand disease and survive in harsh environmental conditions; they seldom require medication, and they are better suited to living on pastures.
Our rare breed American Tunis lamb is known for its exceptionally mild flavor. It has little to no gaminess; and indeed, Thomas Jefferson noted that the meat was the "most delicious we have ever seen."
We only offer whole lamb local sales. A $150 deposit is required at the time of ordering. After reviewing a cut list with our customer; the lamb is processed at a USDA inspected facility, vacuumed sealed, and delivered to your door. The current balance due at delivery is $650.
